Work Package 4 - Proof-of-Concept Integration
The expected result from this work package is the design and development of the service management layer. This task relates to the production of a proof-of-concept service gateway integrating the hardware reference platform, the PreOS management mechanisms and the Service Management Layer. A number of selected services will be implemented, in order to assess the viability of the concept, both from the service implementation costs (how simple is it to adapt/integrate already available software into the platform?) and from the functionality costs (what’s the impact of PreOS and run-time management on maintenance costs? How simple is it to remotely install and activate new services?). The workpackage comprises four modules:
Service Selection
A set of services of special interest to be integrated in the hardware prototype(s) built for proof-of-concept purposes will be chosen. The criteria of choice will depend of the innovation potential and interest of the features implemented by the available components which are already integrated in the service architecture.
Service Deployment
The selected software service configuration will be deployed on the hardware prototype(s) assembled for that purpose.
Integration and Stress Tests
After the service and management framework has been deployed in the prototype(s), the resulting configuration will be submitted to a series of stress and validation tests in order to certify the system for production purposes. If a failure is detected at this stage, it is expected that it shouldn’t be of critical nature, as a consequence of previously conducted extensive and careful testing on the precedent stages – however, if such a situation arises, it should be addressed with the adequate measures.
